When to go wider

Visible stretching or bulging on the outside of the forefoot is a good sign you need more width.

The difference between widths is usually only a couple of millimeters. ASICS notes that in some cases men can wear a women’s style for a narrower fit, and women can wear a men’s style for a wider fit — use the charts to match the length.

How to measure

Stand on a sheet of paper, with your weight on that foot.
Mark the back of your heel and the tip of your longest toe.
Measure between the marks in inches or centimeters.
Measure both feet and use the longer one.
Measure later in the day, when feet are at their largest, wearing the socks you’ll wear with the shoes.
